Improve focus and energy

  • I've recently stated taking a supplement called Optimind. It works well for increasing my focus and energy levels, plus it's natural and safe.      Do you have trouble falling asleep quickly or staying asleep through the night? Do you wake up feeling groggy? Do you want a better mood? Do you want to stop feeling so hungry all the time?      I first heard about 5 htp from a friend when I told him about how much trouble I had trying to fall asleep. I woke up feeling like I was refreshed and ready to face the day. I felt calm, genuinely happy, positive and ready to have a productive day. This feeling lasted throughout the day. I mean, it's not crazy energy with an afternoon crash, but just a better feeling that I could get through the day. I was able to stay more focused on my work and didn't get stressed out with any curve balls that came my way. The feeling of being overwhelmed melted away and was replaced with a sense of serenity and being able to stay levelheaded to take care of any issues. 

     Last but not least, 5 htp is a great weight loss supplement. It makes you feel not hungry. It does not make you feel nauseous or anything but you just lose the ravishing, hungry lion inside feeling. I was able to make more healthy choices at meal times because I didn't come to the table starving and didn't need to grab fast food on my way somewhere. I lost about 2-3 pounds per week while taking 5 htp- starting from week #1!  

     5 htp stands for 5 hydroxytryptophan. Sounds impressive but when you think about it, turkey contains tryptophan, which gives you that happy, sleepy, comfy feeling after Thanksgiving dinner. It is a naturally occurring precursor to serotonin in your body. It is a natural antidepressant, but without the nasty (not to mention dangerous) side effects of the pharmaceutical antidepressants the Dr might recommend. I always prefer to use a naturally occurring supplement before any man made, main stream, potentially harmful drug. Also, 5 htp is not addictive, nor do you build up a tolerance to it. Instead, you continue to feel even better for the next 3-4 weeks after beginning to take it and then maintain these feelings throughout the length of taking it. It's something that you do not need to be afraid to take for the rest of your life if you choose to, because it's so safe. Friends of mine have told me how great they have felt on it and when the bottle ran out, the feelings didn't drop the next day, but kind of slowly went away after a few days, back to their baseline. But they didn't have a crash or any withdrawn effects. They tell me, man, I've got to get some more of that 5 htp stuff! It really works! 

     Directions instruct to take 30 mins-1 hour before bedtime. Warnings say to not take during pregnancy (because there have not been enough studies to prove if it is safe for a fetus, not that it's proven to be harmful, just unknown.) also, you should not take 5 htp along with a prescribed antidepressant because you could potentially get too much serotonin in your body and have some serious side effects from that. If you are looking to change from a script to a natural supplement, I would suggest stopping the script at least for a few days before beginning this, to avoid becoming serotonin overloaded. 5 htp is also available in 50 mg form if 100 mg is too much for you. And available in 200 mg, although I would not recommend starting out with that high of a dose. 100 mg has worked great for my friends and me. I highly recommend trying this supplement.
